In this multi part blog, I will be answering Microsoft’s questions to ask if you are considering an SAP solution – specifically the 5 questions relating to SAP Business One.

A number of customers looking at both SAP Business One and a Dynamics solution have been prompted by their Microsoft Dynamics partners to ask the questions so to make it even easier for potential SAP Business One customers to get the answers I thought I would post them here in a public location.

Lets go!

Question One – What is SAP’s future solution roadmap for Business One? Can you provide documentation supporting that?

It has always been SAP’s policy to publish a roadmap for SAP Business One each time we release a new version, that roadmap then gets updated to cover then next major release and further in to the future – in fact now that SAP Business One Version 8.8 has been released, we have updated the roadmap and this roadmap is available as a document and also as a recorded presentation from one of our senior solution management team members.

If you would like a copy of either just let me know – send me an email to richard.duffy@sap.com and i’ll be more than happy to share either or both with you.

Question Two – How does Business One fit into SAP’s Enterprise Service Oriented Architecture? To what degree is Business One included in the development plans for SAP NetWeaver and Duet?

With SAP Business One Version 8.8 we have enhanced the capabilities of SAP Business One that take advantage of the SAP ESOA – although that term is now a little bit dated. SAP NetWeaver and Duet are solutions that are part of our SAP Business Suite and SAP Business One is a separate product built from the ground up to meet the specific needs of Small and Midsize Businesses so these 2 enterprise solutions are not applicable to SAP Business One. In fact with SAP Business One we have solutions that provide similar integration capabilities – namely the SAP Business One Integration for SAP Netweaver (or B1iSN) and the Microsoft Outlook Integration for SAP Business One.

You can learn more about B1iSN by viewing my video below

In my next post I will address the next set of questions – if you have any additional questions regarding SAP Business One, please drop me a line at richard.duffy@sap.com or leave me a comment on my blog and I’l respond as soon as possible.
