If theres one thing that my experience has taught me its that people buy from people, learning is best done face to face and theres nothing better than having an opportunity to ask questions one to one in a training class – actually, that’s 3 things.

I have delivered 1000’s of hours of face to face sales, product, marketing and pre-sales training and it is still the best way to enable high quality learning.

But theres also been a shift going on in the way that people are wanting to learn and when…and that means that companies wanting to deliver enablement training need to adapt to that change.Classroom Training

On my YouTube Channel, I have been able to deliver more than a million hours of knowledge transfer to thousands of people all over the world without spending a dollar on travel or a dollar on telecommunications costs apart from the original uploading.

And I constantly receive positive feedback and thank you notes from people saying how easy and convenient they find the content to use and learn from, particularly the step by step sessions.

So theres no need to deliver training the old way any more, with an instructor or voice over talent reading from a script while going through slide after slide of Powerpoints – its mind numbing to build and mind numbing to watch.

The new eLearning needs to combine full video of the instructor, full video of the process and the opportunity for participants to engage and interact with the instructor.

And the good news is that this can all be done now by almost anyone with a computer, a copy of Camtasia from TechSmith, a YouTube account and a Social Media presence somewhere like Facebook, Slideshare.net or even Twitter and a Skype account for student interaction.

It has worked for me and I’ll certainly be doing more of it as I move forwards in my new role…

What do you think?
Does this mechanism work for you as a student or how about as a teacher or instructor?
Do you have any best practice hints or tips…I’d love to hear from you!
