I just heard that we hit more than 18000 downloads of the mobile application for SAP Business One from the Apple iTunes store.

This application enables you to access business partners, inventory information, pricing, approval and workflows and reports from your iPad, iPhone or even a Wi-Fi enabled iPod touch – for a quick demo, take a look at the video here.

And the best thing about the application is that it is available to all users of the SAP Business One starter package and Professional users of the bigger SAP Business One solution.

With this many downloads of the app it got me thinking about the importance of mobility to small enterprises and how they are using these technologies.

So I did some digging and I discovered the following statistics – you can access the full article here

A recent report that was published by AT&T shows that America’s small businesses are increasingly reliant on mobile applications, Facebook pages for their companies, and employees working remotely via wireless technologies.Specifically, nearly three-fourths (72%) indicate they use mobile apps in their business, with roughly four in ten (38%) reporting they could not survive – or it would be a major challenge to survive – without mobile apps.

The report also showed that mobile applications are becoming crucial for small businesses, with nearly four in 10 (38%) businesses surveyed saying they could not survive – or it would be a major challenge to survive – without mobile apps. With nearly three-fourths (72%) of small businesses surveyed indicating they use mobile apps for their business, the driving force behind this widespread adoption is time savings, increased productivity and reduction of costs.

So with so many businesses now utilising these applications as a part of their day to day set of applications, it makes sense to have this integration…and the rapid adoption of the mobile application for SAP certainly bears that out.
